Fort Bend:
WATT Works

Revolutionizing Energy in Fort Bend

WATT Works will transform Fort Bend County into a national model for clean, affordable, and resilient energy by leveraging bulk purchasing power and cutting-edge solar technology.

What Is FB WATT Works Initiative?

Fort Bend WATT Works will revolutionize energy access by uniting 100,000+ households and businesses to purchase solar systems at wholesale prices, slashing costs by 50–70% compared to retail, through bulk procurement, vetted installers, and streamlined financing. This initiative will deliver $1.50–$2.50/watt installations, reduce utility bills by 30–60%, and create 10,000+ local jobs while building a decentralized energy network to withstand grid failures. By prioritizing underserved communities and leveraging federal tax credits, WATT Works will make solar affordable for all, offset 750,000+ metric tons of CO₂ annually, and position Fort Bend as a national leader in clean energy resilience.

Who will it be for?

  • Homeowners seeking lower bills and blackout protection
  • Businesses targeting energy savings and ESG goals
  • Underserved communities disproportionately affected by grid instability
  • Local workers through green job training programs

  • Battery Storage Options: Tesla Powerwall, Enphase, or FranklinWH batteries

  • Phase 2 (Years 2–3): Countywide rollout (100,000+ sites)
  • Phase 3 (Years 3–5): Expansion to 15+ Texas counties

Why FB WATT Works?

  • Economic Resilience: $30,000–$60,000 lifetime savings per household
